The Hills St. John is a private hilltop wedding venue above Cruz Bay, St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, with an oceanview ceremony and reception space for up to 120 guests. The estate includes 22 private villas and vetted vendors for every wedding-weekend event, from ceremony to farewell brunch.

Perched high above Cruz Bay, The Hills St. John is set on one of the island’s most breathtaking overlooks, offering sweeping panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea, neighboring islands, and spectacular sunsets. Blending luxury villa accommodations with beautifully appointed event spaces, this private gated community provides an unforgettable setting where your ceremony, reception, and wedding weekend come together in one extraordinary destination.
Unlike a traditional hotel or resort, The Hills offers a more intimate wedding experience, where family and friends can gather, celebrate, and stay together throughout the property. Here, the backdrop is exactly as you’ve imagined—endless Caribbean views, warm ocean breezes, and a setting where your love story takes center stage.
A wedding at The Hills is more than a single day—it’s a destination wedding experience where your celebration unfolds across an unforgettable weekend, with each event taking place on the same beautiful property.
Your wedding morning begins steps from the terrace, in the privacy of your own villa. Villa walkways, tropical gardens, and Caribbean overlooks set the scene for first-look photographs before a single guest is seated.

A licensed USVI wedding planner is required for every wedding at The Hills. They run the logistics: timeline, vendor scheduling, and (for legally binding weddings) helping align your marriage license paperwork with your ceremony date. Around them sits a vetted network of St. John photographers, florists, caterers, hair and makeup artists, and officiants, so you’re not sourcing a wedding long-distance from scratch.
Every wedding at The Hills includes the venue and access to our vetted vendor network for catering, florals, photography, and music. A full reception runs a $4,950–$9,500 venue fee, and a ceremony-only booking runs $2,500–$5,500, both depending on season, paired with a 3- or 5-villa booking (5–7 night minimum) so your wedding party stays where you marry.

The minimum number of villas required for the event must be secured with deposits. Once the required villas have been confirmed, the venue space may be reserved. A wedding planner licensed in the Virgin Islands is required and must be hired. The planner must be onsite from the start of the event through the end of the event.
All villas require at least a 5-night minimum. Certain holidays will require 7 nights. Catered events require either Agave or Gardenia to be secured with a 5-night minimum for use of the kitchen during the event. Reservations are made by villa only, not by room. Each villa requires a separate rental agreement.
In addition to the signed venue contract, a release and waiver of liability form are required. Event insurance must be obtained; additional details are provided in the venue contract. The venue allows for an end time of 11 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 10 PM Sunday through Thursday.
A room block contract is available and expires 6 months prior to the arrival date of the villas. The room block follows the same dates as the villas with the deposit and cannot exceed 7 nights per villa.
A credit card is required to be kept on file for a $1,000 security deposit. A final walkthrough is required by the wedding planner. No refunds 60 days prior to the arrival date for reservations and event date for the venue fee.
Legally marrying in the U.S. Virgin Islands is simpler than most couples expect: no residency requirement, no blood test, and no passport needed for U.S. citizens—just a $200 license fee and an 8-day posting period through the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands.
